Lungi Ngidi was born on 29 March 1996 in Durban. His age is 27 years and he is a right-handed fast bowler for the South Africa Cricket team. He is part of a dynamic South African fast-bowling duo with Kagiso Rabada who has taken many remarkable wickets for their nation.

Height: He has a good tall height of 1.93m.

Education: Ngidi got his high school education from Hilton College and also got a scholarship. Hilton college rated him very high and the head said that he is a natural talent who is just as good in rugby and swimming as in cricket. He has a very good educational record. After that, he joined the University of Pretoria for a Social Sciences degree in Industrial Sociology. He and his fellow teammate Heinrich Klaasen both got an education from the same university and played for the same team Northern at the start.

Lungi Ngidi made his t20b debut in 2017 against Sri Lanka where he performed really well. He bowled very well and got some wickets too with a very low economy rate. His final figures in his t20 debut were 2/12 in 4 overs and he also won man of the match in his debut match.

Ngidi’s best performance came against India in his test debut at Centurion Cricket Ground. In this match one of the all-time great fast bowlers Dayl Steyn was not playing due to an injury in the last match and he was picked for the 2nd match against India in his place of him. Here the young led grasped the opportunity with both hands and filled Steyn’s big shoes very well. He took 6 wickets on his debut giving just 39 runs which helped South Africa win 2-0 the series.

His ODI debut was also against India where he took 8 wickets in just 3 matches but still, his best ODI performance came against Australia where he took 6 wickets and gave his team a clean sweep against mighty Australia.

He has the record of taking the fastest 50 wickets (26 matches) in SA cricket history.

Injuries and career stats

He was the part of CSK team in the IPl 2028 addition where he bowled very well and helped CSK win the trophy that year.

Then he was picked up by Delhi Capitals but due to injuries, he was unable to play many matches for his team.

Injuries have played a very disappointing role in his short career. He has missed any important events and matches due to injuries. He was part of the 2021 World Cup and for 2022 WC but the injuries didn’t provide him the chances he needed to perform for his nation.  But in World Cup 2022 he still was able to pick up 4 fer against India and in this event, he took 7 wickets in 4 matches he played.

In the 2023 world cup he played 8 matches and managed to take 9 wickets. His performance in this World Cup was not up to the mark.

Lungi has played 14 matches of IPl since now. He debuted in 2018 but due to injuries, he couldn’t play many matches. The last time he played IPL was in 2021.
